만든 호화로운 디반에 누워 금으로 드리워진 같은 소재의 쿠션에 기대어 있는 모습을

보여준다. 그녀의 오른쪽과 이 동양식 아파트의 깊은 곳에는 보라색 벨벳 커튼으로

둘러싸인 베네치아 거울이 있다. 그녀의 왼쪽에는 열대 식물이 명상하는 여배우이자

조각가 위로 푸른 잎을 내리고 있다. 그녀의 발치에는 큰 품종의 노란 사냥개가 긴

다리로 쉬고 자랑스럽고 귀족적인 머리를 뻗고 있다.에밀 졸라는 '마드무아젤 사라

베르나르는 예쁘지는 않지만 지적 능력이 뛰어나고 클레린 (Georges Clairin)은

그녀에게 카바넬 (Alexandre Cabanel, French painter, 1823-1889)이 그릴

법한 매끈한 얼굴과 관능미를 부여할 수 있었다'고 표현했다.
